About the event

Accordionist Marko Hatlak, described as an audience favourite by the German newspaper Berliner Morgenpost, has been performing on international and domestic concert stages since 2000. After finishing secondary music and ballet school in Ljubljana, he continued his studies of concert accordion with Professor Ivan Koval in Weimar in 1999. He finished his postgraduate studies with Professor Stefan Hussong in Wurzburg, Germany, in 2008. He has performed as a soloist, in chamber ensembles, with symphony orchestras, and in various groups, with a repertoire ranging from baroque, classical, tango, and ethnic music, and most recently as an author and singer in the Marko Hatlak Band, which performs fusion, funk, Latin, and rock.

Marko Hatlak gave concerts throughout Europe and the United States and has worked with notable musicians such as Stefan Milenkovich, Tommy Emanuel, Stefan Hussong, Vlatko Stefanovski, Iztok Mlakar, Joss Stone, Sabina Cvilak, Nuška Drašček, Marko Črnčec, and others. He appeared as a soloist with the orchestras of the Moscow Philharmonic, RTV Slovenia conducted by En Shao, and the Jena Philharmonic. He released numerous independent albums of tango, baroque, contemporary, ethnic, and popular music. He has also become more active as a composer in recent years. In 2019, he wrote and performed as a soloist (what is this as a type of musical work: a symphony???) Živo Srebro for accordion and RTV Slovenia's symphony orchestra. He writes for his own ensembles as well as for theatre and film.
